So I still can't find much info on them but I did find a freshwater puffer (Congo puffer) that looks a lot like it.....but it came to AI in a saltwater order. Maybe they're related somehow:question: On the plus side the sand puffer is eating well and seems healthy

Did some more searching and went back to the one site http://www.thepufferforum.com/forum/...hp?f=2&t=27907 I found some info from and they thought it was maybe a Takifugu pardalis/panther puffer.

Apparently I will answer my own questions given enough time. Ron had part of a scientific name for me so I did some variations of it (he was working off memory) and I think I found it torquigener hypselogeneion or at least it's what I think it came in as.
