Discovered a new way to catch fish

I am setting up a new tank downstairs and transferring some fish to it. Needless to say, a net alone doesn't work too well.

I had all these pieces of 3 inch PVC, and have noticed that fish like to hide in them. So I placed a 12" piece in a strategic spot, and chased the fish to it. When the fish went inside, I just placed my net on one side, and with my hand picked up the other side. The fish then scooted into the net on the other side.

Caught a couple so far that way, and will be doing more soon. Seemed almost too easy.

I've done this too, although I never think to mention it when people are asking how to catch the fish..

Have you tried sticking a cap on one end?

That's a brilliant idea ! Thanks for sharing.

I bet they'er more likely to go in without it being capped and not likely to leave once in it. What a great idea I have no use for now lol.

Thanks everyone for the compliments. Happy to share. Wish I had thought of or heard of this method before. I've had many occasions where I could have used it before.

One fish that I still have to catch and move is a Flame Hawkfish. But probably won't get him until I remove the last rock in the tank. Which I can do, since I am resetting the whole tank. Wonder if I could sucker him into going into a smaller PVC pipe...
