Hermit Crabs Eating Zoas?

ok so i just straight up caught 3 hermit crabs on top of one of my new zoa frags. they had about 15 heads on them.

the frags were nice and open 2 days ago, yesterday they closed up. and today all the polyps are gone

has anyone ever had this problem?

What kind of hermies?

A hermit is a crab.. enough said.

IMO all crabs are evil.

no idea. the typical ones. not blue, not red. i think they're just black and white

looks like they're black with red tips on their feet and red eyes

I have black and white hermit crabs as well, not sure if they have red legs or eyes, ill have to look more closely. But lately I see them on this one 30+head frag just sitting on it. And then on 3 other rocks ive gradually been losing polyps, thought it may be branches or these tiger cowries but im still losing polyp by polyp. Maybe the crabs are the reason for both of us losing zoas, ill try to get a picture of one of the hermit crabs

I dont know that hermits actually would eat the zoas.. but they pick and poke at everything so much I can see them doing tons of damage

i went from 15 polyps to a bald rock. :( and this has happen before and i could never figure out why.

but all my frags with larger polyps are ok... probably too big to eat
