Clam Experts?

i've had both of these clams for about 5 months or so.

one of them opens up nice and wide when the lights are on and the other one seems like its half open.

they are in similar positions and i have tried switching their positions as well with same results.

anyone know what the deal is?

they look fine to me.....the crocea, which is what I think the second one is, dont extend their mantles as far as squamosas, which is what the first clam looks like......croceas do seem to prefer being on the rock, not in the sand....you may wanna consider placing it on a medium sized flat or slightly cup shaped piece of rock to help it feel more in its element....if you do decide to move it make sure to cut the "foot" from the glass if it is attached...do not tear it free

they are both normal, just different species. One looks to be a squamosa and the other crocea.

the purple one use to be on a rock but detached itself so i just left it in the sand.

ill try and find a rock for it. maybe it'll help.
