this is kinda a loaded question as Im sure that I will offend some people......I personally wouldnt live in Forest Lawn, Dover, or Marlbourough....... you could try to search the Calgary Herald archives for the crime reports that they do.....that will give you an idea as to where to avoid.......Ive lived here all my life and all over the city and my favorite area in general is the NW quadrant of the city......

Where are is your job located?

The NW and the SW(before the glenmore split) are my favorite parts of town. Specifically Marda loop, but its filled with old people and young professionals. I also like anything off memorial after 16th ave and before crowchild, i mostly like being by the water

Places I wouldn't live ever.... most of the NE. Don't get me wrong there are some nice neighbourhoods but I still will never consider it. I hate the SE cause most of it is on the far edges of town (mckenzie lake, abourn bay).

Just stay out of the North East.
I grew up in Rundle/Marlborough and and I can tell you, the kids there are crazy.

well I lived in NE, SE, SW, and and currently live in NW. I prefer NW or SW but i think it all depends where you work. i would not live in SW if my work place is in NE.

Anyway, Forest Lawn is not that bad :-) it is close to everything

Depends on where you work. Forest Lawn, dover have bad reps but as stated they are pretty close to all your major roads. Yes they are worse than say Willowpark, makenzie, douglas dale/glen, but you get what you pay for. I have lived in Penbrook (beside forest lawn) and Erin woods (beside Dover) never had any problems. The guy that lived next to me in Penbrook was a crack dealer but it wasnt problematic. My GF at the time never like the idea so we moved to Erin woods, but he stayed to himself never bothered us really. I live down town now and like it so far.

I lived in Woodbine and cedar brae and liked the location a lot but its not super conveniant to get around. All in all anything south of 17th ave is a pretty safe bet.

I lived in Rundle... never had any problems. Honestly, it's a nice area, and if you're smart (don't leave a steal me sign on stuff) you'll be fine. Realistically, that goes with any area though.
