AZOO Manual - LF Inexperienced + Experienced azoo keepers input.

The azoo manual is in the final stages.

We are looking for some help on the manual before we post the manual up on the public forum.

We are looking for people to proof read of course but also to go through the content of the manual.

1) Experienced and successfull NPS tank keeps
Proof reading for unclear statements or difficult to read sections.
Input on what you have found to be benificial is always appreciated and may very well be added to the manual.
Pictures of your setup for maintaining water quality or for feeding are always appreciated as well of course.
Personal experiences always welcome. We would like to add this section to the back of the manual so that hobbiests can read through this.

2) Unexperienced NPS tank hobbiests
Must have a basic understanding of reefkeeping in general but you do not need to be a pro by any means.
The manual should be a very easy to read and very easy to follow guide on how to setup and maintain a Azoo coral tank.
We require your experience here to read through the manual and let us know if it we met our goal of a simple, easy to follow manual.

Hey Martinbc, do you currently have experience in keeping azoo corals?

matinbc 01-25-2011 04:52 PM

No, Not very much. But I am open to any information that I can get on it cause I am planing a tank upgrade in the near future and want to get a couple sea fans in my next tank to go with my hard corals...

PFoster 01-25-2011 04:55 PM

Ok, cool.
Yeah you can definately proof read the manual and hopefully pick up some usefull info for the future there.
Half the manual is really about maintaining proper water quality as this factor is very important in order to be successfull in keeping azoo corals.

PM me with your name and email addy please!

I tried finding info on "Azoo" corals and only found links to glow in the dark plastic corals.

I am interested to see what you guys are referring to.

Is there a link I could go to?

PFoster 01-28-2011 02:14 PM

Azoo is an abreviation for azooxanthelate corals.

What we are refering to here are corals that do not require photosynthisis to live, or NPS corals (aka non-photosynthetic corals)

Some of the easier nps corals would be suncorals or dendrophyllia.
Some of the more difficult corals would be seafans or dendronephthya.
These are just some exapmles and there are lots of corals that fit into this catagory.
All of them though will not survive in the long run without a specialized feeding regime and that is what this manual is outlining.
