cemented rock

I have cemented rock together to make towers with portland 10 cement
I was wondering how long I should cure the rock/cement???

I have it in my tank that just has fresh water in it and was gunna do 2 to 3 50% water changes before I was gunna do a hole water change and add salt
Anyone have any opinions ??

how much cement did u use? I know when people make reef plugs they leave it in the toilet tank and let it flush for weeks/month. but those are whole plugs.
test your water. PH should be affected by curing concrete. (I think...)

It was about 50/50 mix with crush coral and only used about 2 4L pails worth of mix

When i make my plugs i get some pretty heavy phosphate leaching may want to keep an eye on that.

+1 on the ph keep checking it and it will let you know when the cement has curred (its gonna be high for a while )

My understanding it that it will take 6 weeks to a few months to cure in fresh water and that's with daily water changes. It's recommended to use a separate container or bathtub other an aquarium for this reason. For small pieces you can place them in a toilet tank for a faster cure rate.

As others have mentioned measuring the PH of the water will tell you when it's cured and give a better idea on the progress.

Will the PH be very low or through the roof

Rogue951 11-15-2010 06:27 PM

through the roof.
