Need your input: Mounting legs for Giessman Infinity
 

Well, I have this light sitting in my basement waiting forever for buyer to pick up. Not sure when because he keeps delaying and the light owner does not want to get rid of it for cheap. So i am thinking of trying it on my tank and maybe i will buy it from him. The problem is i can't hang it because my tank is under 23 feet ceiling.

I search around internet and can't find any mounting legs for it. Anyone has any idea how to make this works. Also the light is 4 feet and my tank is 6 feet.

Any ideas is appreciated.

Personally I dig lights that are hung. I know, I know... you said you have 23 foot ceilings (life is hard, huh?) but hear me out. Get a nice bent hanger bar like this and like this. Then get some of those sweet adjustable light hangers like these and you're all set.

Ok, so maybe that's a bit more work than you want for just trying out a light but it's look good!

Thanks Scuba. The problem with this is i can't access to the side and back of my tank because it is against the wall :-(

Hmmm, any other option. Maybe i should use wooden block to just try out the light before commit to it

Hey Tai, depending on how high above the tank you want the light you could have a welder make you some sort of aluminum bracket for the light to sit on. :biggrin:

If you look at my current build...believe it or not the light supports were added AFTER the tank was against the wall and running! I never think things through enough.

I managed to slip two 8 foot 2x4s in behind the stand and I drilled from inside the stand INTO the 2x4s. Luckilly I had room above the sump to manage this. Not a pretty solution but my stand, tank and canopy hide them well enough.

Thanks Brett, maybe hard with my current setup and my wife will kill me if i do any kind of drilling into the wall.

Actually the 2x4s are drilled into the wood on the back of my stand. No damage to the wall. My stand is 2x4 construction so lots of spots to bite into.

If you had something fabricated out of metal you could have holes drilled in it, drill holes into th back of your stand if possible and so long as you can reach behind the tank a little you should be able to use long bolts and nuts. Just thread them together with the nut on the back. You'd need very little access to do this.
