We Reefers are quite the bunch
 

I felt this was funny so thought I would share it...


Last night I was at a wedding here in Edmonton. I was at the bar talking to my wife's cousin and telling him about my new 70 gallon set up.

The bartender all of a sudden leans over and says "Sorry... but what do you have?"

I begin to tell him about my tank and he informs me he also has a salt water tank at home and proceeds to take out his iphone to show me pictures!! So what do I do... show pictures on my phone. HA HA HA!

I have to add that for about 5 minutes he ignored any other person at the bar to talk about his tank!

Does this make us nerds? Maybe a little obsessive? Carrying pictures of our tanks around... AND showing strangers that you discover have the same hobby?

We are quite the breed, us reefers. As many of us that are out there... it is a small community and always great to trade stories with another reefer!!

Anyhow... it made me laugh.

I'm not wierd, I'm the most normal person you will ever meet, don't believe me just ask my therapist.

:biggrin: Yes it is neat to meet others with tanks too, did you mention to him he was eavesdropping on your conversation. :lol:

No... I figured we were at the front of the line... at the bar... so it was no surprise he overheard ha ha!

my kids call me a fish nerd but every time they come over to our house the first thing they do is check out my tank to see what is new. then the fridge

the cool kids hang out at Starbucks and talk about what Lady Gaga is currently wearing. Us reef geeks loiter at our LFS and talk about what our urchin is currently wearing. :lol:

What I love is going to petland or petsmart or whatever to get my dog some food and a new collar to chew through and having a browse in the freshwater section...always happens when a store employee comes up to me ask asks what I run for tanks and I start talking to them Salt Water and they start worshipping the ground I walk on and treating me like I am a marine biologist or something :biggrin: Its always a good ego stroke.:wink:
