Too much power for a 12G?
OK, so I recently picked up a 12 gallon JBJ nano cube... it came with a PC fixture which will need to be upgraded. Some of you may have seen my post requesting a HQI light for it... here's the thing: When I originally made the request, I was thinking the tank may have been a 6 Gallon, so I was thinking that a 150 or 70 would work. I now know that it is a 12 Gallon, and am wondering if 70W HQI will be enough (It will be primarily SPS), or should I go for the 150? I really don't want to cook the tank, so if I can get by with the 70, good. Any input greatly appreciated, thanks!

Anybody with an opinion?

Id go 150W personally.

You don't think that will be too much heat for the tank?

If you have the 150W 6-8" above the tank it shouldn't be too bad. If the temps do start getting high have a fan blowing across the tank between the fan and water. An auto top off unit may also be required as it doesn't take long to evaporate enough water from a 12g tank to change the salinity on hot days.

I've got a 150watt over my 18 gallon... and I can't keep my heat up enough with my little heater... seems to have no effect what so ever temperature wise. its about 6" above the surface of the water.
