Help: mixing water

I keep getting this cloudy water every time i mix my new water. Here are my step

1) Prepare RO/DI water
2) put calc / mg additive and leave it for a day to mix
3) put in the Reef Crystal salt
Water becomes cloudy and my ph and temp probe are coat with white powder

Anyidea why?

Thanks

they should disipate after a little bit, why dont you add them all at once? couldnt hurt theres nothing in the water.

well i remember i read some thread discussing about the problem with adding them all at once which can cause precipitation.

unless you already have tested the bucket of salt perameters I would add the salt then test to see what you need to dose. I dont use IO but I used this procedure when I was using kent salt

I know exactly what i need to dose to bring all parameters up. If i dose after the salt mix then i get even more precipitation :-(

how long are you leaving between dosing and adding salt?

burrows14 02-28-2010 05:53 AM

also what color is the precipitaion and how long do you let everything mix together before adding it to your system?
