Overflow

I'm making an overflow for my hob protein skimmer and was wondering if there was some formula for how many slots to make for the overflow.

Thanks

make no slots. My new overflow is one continious lip over which water can flow smoothly. I am using a egg crate mesh on the inside to prevent critters from getting in.

I don 't like that calculator. it says for 1200 gph you need a 1.43" pipe and 18" of linier overflow. 18" of what size teeth? and how deep are they cut?

Just wondering.. If I want to do this overflow.. I need to have some sort of auto top off don't I? Otherwise this isn't really gonna work.

Yeah, once the water level goes below your skimmer overflow box youre is kinda hooped.

It would be nice to have something that "FLOATS" with the water level
