clown fish break-up?

I think my clowns broke up. They have been together for a year and for the past two days the smaller one has been in the top-ish corner of the tank. They usually are attached at the hip and host in my torch... i watched for about an hour and the bigger one is keeping the smaller one in the corner and if it tries to come out the bigger one bites it and chases it back... i took the bigger one out and the little one is cruising around like always! what should i do with this other clown?

(side note.. just checked in on her again.. and it swims into the torch coral and then just stops swimming for about 5-10 seconds.. and then swims again...)

What kind of clowns? Clarkiis are notorious for having the male changing to a female even though there is already a dominant female in the tank.
