How many times had you had your tank leak or forgot to shut off the your DI unit?

Man, I just got an estimate of $2,000 to repair the water damage of my basement ceiling from my tank above it on the main floor. Boy my tenant wasn't too happy about it.

Apparently my overflow backed up when my filter bag clogged the outflow. It was only about 5 gallons of saltwater. But I think it may have just added to a number of times I forgot to shut the DI unit over the years. But it never caused the ceiling to leak. Isn't reef keping suppose to be relaxing and not cause more headaches?

Yeah I did that many a time filling 5 gallon jugs with RO water. Then someone gave me the bright idea of filling them in the bathtub, that way if you forget its just down the drain and not on the floor.

I have read somewhere that you can buy inexpensive water alarms. You put them on the floor, and they go off when wet.

You realize this stuff never happens when you're home...:)

40- 50 Times

My Top up water tank has to be manually filled with the RO/DI system that is about 9 meters away from it, so no leaks right from the tank. I must of over filled the water transfer bucket 40-50 times already though, Cork floors FTW!

Same here for the top up water. I overflow it at least a couple of times per month. At least I was smart enought to put it out in the garage where a flood can't cause any damage.

I broke a 45g in our old third floor apt. Overfilled my mix bucket with rodi many times in the last house. Once it dripped into the cat litter in the basement. That was so gross.

I never spill water on the floor
