Nano tank.

Hi all,

Anyone running a nano tank? I recently set up a 2 1/2 gallon. So far so good. It's been up about two weeks. I used sand/live rock/water from my big tank to get it started. Just wondering if anyone else has tried this and what kind of problems you might have had?

well the only problem i have encountered is in the past day since i added 1 more overdriven bulb. so i now have aprox 120w on my 10 g and my temp goes from 78deg at night and 81 in the day. i do not have a fan on my hood but i do have 5 vents in the top to vent heat (used to have 2 but tank temp went too high so i had to route 3 more)but the vents arent quite enough for 3 bulbs but 2 were ok.

What kind of bulbs are you using? I have two 6400K 13 watt pc's. They get fairly hot but don't seem to raise the temp much. I'm thinking of adding a 13 watt actinic to this but I may need to add a small fan or better venting if I do.

I'm using a Aquaclear Mini(with out the foam and carbon) for flow but it doesn't seem like enough so I was thinking of going to a small power head.

I find it as much fun playing with this small tank as with my big tank. Price is a lot less on the bits as well

well my tank has about 240 gph in a 10 g which of course sounds like alot but it is just perfect i figure. i am using 3 18" zoo med bulbs but overdriven so they get hot. 2 50/50's and 1 actinic.

Fascinating concept, that's for sure. Would like to get acquainted with a working model. Have read the exploits of the Nano-Reef.com members; looks very encouraging.

Keep us posted!
