Green star polyps out of control

Hi there,

As the title says, I've got some green star polyps that are going out of control. I thought they looked neat when I first started out, now I don't mind them but I don't particularly care for them anymore and they're taking over everything. They just recently attacked and killed a small birdsnest frag so I need some ideas on how to control this plague without nuking the entire tank. I tried boiling water but they just laughed at me :(

Thanks

can you isolate the rock they are on?

I've been able to peel mine off in sheets... and sell/trade them as frags!

You can peel them off or isolate the rock they're on. I had a small patch that wouldn't peel off and moving the rock wasn't an option, so I ended up covering it with some reef puddy.

Take all the GSP covered rock into your lfs and trade for new live rock and other less invasive corals

I agree with the others. Remove the infested rocks and sell them to some poor sap... I mean beginner. I've tried peeling, scraping, brushing and yelling but they just keep growing so I'm going to remove the rocks they're on and either cook them in my sump or trade/sell them to someone else.

I must be one of the only poor sap out there that loves GSP. I hope I know what I got myself into when I picked up a bunch a little while back.

I really like mine too... I like how they wave in the current. Also I get to trade/sell for other stuff, so it's contributing to the fund!

Like mine as well but wish I would have been more careful where I first placed it.

I liked them when they were a small, manageable size. Now that they turned into a monster on me I want them banished! So it looks like I'll be re-aquascaping a little. Anyone in the Red Deer area want to trade anything for some GSP rocks?
