My Other hobby

I was very fortunate to indulge today in my other passion/hobby and thought I would share some pictures of my Quad trip out to Mclean Creek , 1/2 hour west of Calgary.

I dislike the environmental impact I'm afraid...sorry, nothing personal. I remember we drove out there once to see if it would be a nice place to camp that was close to Calgary. What a horror story, nothing but a filthy mudhole.

I wonder what horror stories will come out of there this long weekend.

what environmental impact?

Wow great pictures!

I would be willing to bet Kevin is one of the responsible off-roaders that hate what is happening there as well.

These are some " other" pictures of the area

McLean Creek is being destroyed

Deb I understand your concern and yes parts of it are a mud hole. I have been over close to every inch of that area and the ONLY area that I feel has suffered any E-Impact is the entrance and exit for off-road vehicles to the camp ground. Every off-road veh. must enter and exit the camp-site on one small dirt road which is chewed up bad multiple times a day. Can you imagine what a 1 mile stretch of road in Calgary would look like if everyone had to use it to get in and out of the NW. At Mclean Creek there is whole sides of mountains stripped bare for logging and so a 10 foot path through that area is considered a horrible Environmental- impact case? Deb I respect your concern as without it and others of the same we wouldn't have the rules that are currently in place to safe guard my quadding passion. Thanks again and YES I do respect nature and do my personal best to ensure its cleanliness and try to stay on exiting paths. Those young and old that accompany me I try to teach and mentor the well being of this beautiful area.

I wish a few people that are so diligently hugging those trees would pick off a few of the pine beetles.

I am glad all enjoyed the pictures.

Nah, two wrongs never make a right. We all know that.

Those two-seaters look nice.
How stable are they? It seems to me that they would be more prone to tipping.

I am not sure what happened Deb but I never could read the link maybe resubmit it

Carpentersreef; The long wheel base on the 2 seater Can-am makes it far more stable than my Suzuki. If I have someone on the back on the Suzuki I have to be cautious about the front end coming up where that is not a concern on the Can-am. Also with the Can-am both people are sitting closer to the ground giving it better stability side to side whereas the seat on the back of my Suzuki puts the passenger higher up making it a challenge to drive with a passenger in tricky situations.
