Black lights

A buddy of mine wants to know if he can use black lights at night for viewing his tank instead of the moon glows.
I said it should be ok but would like to hear what the majority thinks.
Thanks

I don't think long term exposure to UV lights would be very beneficial - how do you think a UV filter works?

i think it depends how intense the UV is being emitted from the black light. I know they use these lights (and many of them) in night clubs without any ill effects but not sure what the effects will be in an aquarium.

I ran UV lights on my FW tank for a few months as Moonlights. Worked fine. Blacklights are lower UV than the UV sterilizers. No where near as intense
