The Algae War

Approximately two months ago, the peaceful reef community of Biocube 29 was mercilessly invaded and occupied by an evil force of hair algae from parts unknown.
The civilian long polyp coral population was in extreme danger of being smothered and killed by this foreign menace. The local snail and crab militia, were no match for the invading army and a state of emergency was declared.
The federal government activated the entire armed forces and deemed that extreme force was needed to defeat this evil menace. Use of heavy weaponry was authorized and a defencive plan of evacuation and sanitation via scrub brush and large water changes was placed into motion.
Clean up crews in the area were set free to eradicate any stragglers and the local infrastructure was rebuilt and enhanced with improved plumbing and waste management facilities.
Today a top government official released this press release.
"We can now declare Biocube 29 is now again under the direct control of government forces and safe for all inhabitants to reside. Never again, will this government allow such brutal and inhumane invaders inside our borders."

Hell, if there'd been oil involved the USA would have jumped in to save Biocube 29............... But, alas, with no oil involved the federal government was left to it's own devices. Good to hear it won a victory.

There was even a rumor the top brass was considering use of chemical weapons of mass destruction. Good thing it never came to that.
