glass cover cleaning tricks
So for those who have opted for a glass cover for your aquarium, what do you use to clean it (to remove those near-perminant dried salt marks)?
I have tried: -plain old elbow grease -steele wool -razor blade |
I dont have a glass top,but vinegar works for me when I need to clean Ca deposits.

let it soak in the sink with warm water and some vinegar. That'll loosen anything up.

Glass is harder than steel so you should be ok with steel wool- you can always test on a hidden corner to be sure. However I have found the only way to get all the scale off is to dissolve it with the water/vinegar mix and then rinse with RO water.

I use glass covers on my FW tanks.
I use a spray bottle of vinegar/water solution. I also use a commercial glass cleaner, it is a spray foam product used for car windshields, I forget what it is called but it works well. One thing to avoid is running the glass tops through the dishwasher. I tried this and the plastic strip on the back got bent from the heat. |
