Seachems Reef Salt anyone tried it yet ?
 

Hi i was wondering if anyone has tryed there new salt the price is more than $10.00 than I.O and i was wanted to know if it's worth it.

I tried a bucket but I was having some problems with STN towards the end of the bucket. I can't directly attribute it to the salt but I can't pin down the problem to anything else so I've gone back to Kent. FWIW, it mixes up fine and seemed okay at the time. Kent is the same price here and its 200gal instead of 160 so you can't beat that. Originally, I switched because I was a bit leery of the Kent after that alkalinity fiasco but my new bucket of Kent checked out fine. :biggrin:

STN = slow tissue necrosis, as opposed to RTN = Rapid tissue necrosis

The corals just deteriorated and lost tissue over a period of about a week. I couldn't attribute it to anything else. I'm not saying it was the salt, but it could have been.

I use IO, but once in a while I trow in a bag of Seachem and my corals (mostly SPS) react to it positively.
Seachem is really high in Borate (used for buffering), so I wouldn't use it exclusively.
