Did you try injecting the pests with boiling water?

I have tried yes. I have had the best success with Kalk powder and they still seem to come back. Are they an issue in a fish only tank?

An FO tank or an FOWLR tank?
I've seen a couple in my FOWLR tank. Came in with the LR. Nuked 'em with Joe's Juice.
Being only a couple, I wouldn't consider my experience with aptasia in that tank an "issue", but I suppose it is possible.
As for an FO tank....I wouldn't think they'd be a problem because of the abscence of LR.

HTH and cheers:smile:,

Peppermint shrimp are hit or miss for aptasia control. What might work if you are set on peppers is to hit the pests with some Joe's juce/vinegar/or hot water & then the shrimp often cleans up the leftovers.

Vinegar? Do you have to take the rock out to do this?
By the way this is a FOWLR

SeaHorse_Fanatic 04-01-2006 08:08 PM

Ideally, if you could take out the LR & put it in another container of saltwater, that will make it easier & less messy in your tank. However, you'd have to wait for the pests to come out again because most treatments I know of require you to squirt into the mouth or inject the aptasia to be effective.

My friend uses a syringe to inject vinegar (better outside the tank cause too much (if you have lots of aptasia) could drop the pH). If its just a few, no problem in the tank but it sounds like an infestation.

You could try the torch method.
