Is this guy reef-safe?
Sorry about the pic it was about as good as I could get. He's less than an inch wide including legs right now, and came with my live rock. I realize he may be difficult to identify, but I would appreciate any suggestions as to whether he would be good or bad to keep.
Thanks! http://members.shaw.ca/steveboer/Misc/119_1904.JPG |
Myself I would say no, I don't trust hitchhiking crabs unless I know exactly what it is. Easier to get rid of him now then trying to dig him after he does damage.

It looks to have fairly small claws wich is sometimes considered as an indication that it is safe. Personally though, I would banish it to your sump or refugium to be safe.

my trigger is hungry...

Thanks guys. I guess I'll keep him out of the tank. Since I don't have a sump/fuge setup at the moment is there a preferred method of humanely 'putting him to sleep'? Or, if someone in Edmonton wants him....

my trigger volunteers to tuck him in. Oh; my morays say they're willing to help too...

Oookay, but I'm not shipping him to Maple Ridge... I like the microwave pic, that's a good one.
