Bad idea?
 

I got a used AC500 that was used on a FW tank. It came with a sponge which I'd like to use, but am wondering if this is a bad idea seeing as it was used on a FW tank?? Just making sure, I don't need any problems caused by my carelesness.

So it will be okay to use in my system then? I didn't know if there could have been any weird bacteria problems or something like that...

My only concern would be if they used any medications in the tank, Specifically copper based. The filter unit should be ok, but just go pick up a new sponge. They are pretty cheap.

Alrighty.. I'll pass on the sponge use then.

I'll go give it another good rinse in hot , hot water.
