Refugium - 12 or 24 hour?
 

For people running refugiums, can you please chime in as to whether you run your fuge 12, 24, or ??, hours, and is that that same timing as display, or reverse cycle?

If you have tried multiple methods, I would like to know why you have stuck with your current method. Also please let me know what is in your fuge.

I run my fuge on a reverse cycle. As far as hours go its whenever i remember to turn it on at night and off the next day. (haven't hooked up my timer yet for it.. :mrgreen:) I try for around 12hours though.

I have Chaeto and some nice red Macro I just got. Also have a wack of rock for extra filtration and incase i need it in another tank sometime.
I have pods and Stomatella snails that breed like crazy in there. The only inhabitant is my "African Canadian" Emerald Crab. Yes i still have him Bev. :wink:

Since I've only had small HOB fuge (AC500 or AC300), I've always gone with 24 hrs. The chaeto will grow well either way.

24/7. I have live rock, chaeto and some grape calerpa in one sump and just live rock and chaeto in the other.
