material to ensure there are no hi points in the stand

ok so I am starting to put the boards backin for the "shelf" that the tank will sit on and I am using two pieces of plywood. my question is instead of putting carpet, or somethingunder the tank, can I put a 1/2" thick piece of that blue styrafoam (how ever it is spelt ) in between the two pieces of plywood?

basicly I would have the metal frame, then plywoodsheet, then the BLUE STUFF, then another plywood sheet, then the tank

well what do you think?

Steve, I have a roll of sill plate gasket foam that I use. It's about 4 inches wide. Worked great, so if you want some of that, let me know.

i'd recommend putting the styro directly under the tank on the plywood rather than the other way around. gaurantees no uneven parts of the ply could ever result in point loading on the bottom glass. shane
