It's about time... Sump finally connected

Yippee! Finally got the sump attached to the 65 today.

Was starting to think it would never happen! Bear27 - you do awesome work, the overflow and the sump work great!

Only two minor floods, both caused by some idiot user trying to make things work

And now, I find out I notice I have to do the 5g again... (Is anyone else having major difficulties with mitch's tanks lately? This is 5g #6 in less than 6 weeks)

Hey Andy, what do you have for overflows? What size is your sump? Details man!

Overflow was a custom design, built by bear27, nice smoke acrylic built to specs, couldn't be happier with it.

Sump is bear27's old sump, now that he's upgraded, was a bit tough to make the plumbing work... But it all worked out in the end (yeah, it's a tad low, something about overflowing 10g of water will do that) Not sure on the exact volume, believe its around 30-35 gallons.

Whats you return pump?

AndyL 08-17-2005 06:15 PM

Pump is a mag12, feeds a manifold that disperses to 6 different jets. Basically a modified version of the Undergravel jets that the FW rift lake guys have been using lately. Saves having multiple powerheads, and tries to keep the grunge from settling to the substrate.

So when do we get to see a pic of that.

AndyL 08-17-2005 11:12 PM

Only picture I've got that roughly shows the system, and it was modified a lot since I took this... But you'll get the general idea...

After this shot was taken, I used 3/4" pvc to connect the two different legs (evens out the flow), and added a couple reducing tees to 3/4" pvc for some additional jets and I drilled a few 1/4" holes to provide some more circulation in behind the rockwork. Seems to work very well, at least I like it...
