WTB Mantis shrimp

Hello all. I would really like to find a small mantis for my two gallon. I would need to get rid of my four sexy shrimp if I got one, so I'd give them to you if you wanted. Thanks.

we found the source of the clicking in zer's tank when we broke it down, it was a pistol the size of an egg!!1

hey willow (sorry to go off the subject) but I have been hearing clicks in my tank that has been setup for a year now.. and I just started hearing clicks a few weeks ago.. no new LR added, just corals and frags.

Do you think what I am hearing could be a pistol shrimp ?

(thanks to the click i now sleep with plugs in my ears... no lie)

I think its safe to say its no mantis though... I hope

Try doing a search - I have read before that the frequency of the clicks helps indicate what is making them. I might be wrong, but I was under the belief that a pistol shrimp will be silent most of the time but only snap when it needs to stun its prey, ie 3 or 4 loud clicks. On the other hand, mantis' are supposed to be much more frequent becasue they are digging burrows through the rock. HTH

I would like to publicly thank Andy for grabbing a hitchhiking mantis shrimp he saw while at Gold's today! I have been searching on bulletin boards and talking to local shops and online venders without any luck up till now. Thanks to Andy, I now have a mantis that happens to be exactly what I was looking for!

Gracias,

- Chad
