stuck on heater

I had hoped to never experience this. Just found my tank at 86 degrees and the heater was still on  Its an EBO Jaeger.

Recommendations for a new heater??

Since I switched to the titaniums, they have run perfect. I have the digital and an analog. The digital has been running perfect for over a year now.

Both are 250w heaters.

I recommend 2 heaters that are slightly under sized. If one sticks on, it won't kill your tank. If one fails, it won't kill your tank.

Well I've had this one for 2.5 years without a problem. Then again, maybe thats the problem

When you say undersized Brad, we are talking how many watts here?? Currently I have a 250W (unplugged). I have a couple of 150s, would those be better?

Christy :)

You don't know the half of it  Then again, you've been following the saga haven't you

Luckily I have been subscribing to that "hands in the tank every day" method so sometime between 9pm last night and 6pm tonight the heater stuck. Everything seems okay though so far......

Christy :)

Christy, ya, try the 2 150w if you have them already. I've run 2 for years just to avoid this type of thing

Doug 05-11-2005 01:41 AM

I run the pair of 250,s in my 170g

Thanks guys

I've also heard that the Ebos fail in the on position where as the Tronic heaters fail off. If I had my way I'd choose failing in the off position. It has something to do with the electronics, one is solid state the other is ??.
