what to add first?
 

once my tank has cycled, should i add hermit crabs,cleaner shrimp,star fish, or should i add my fish first? :question:

i would add a few snails to start with wait awhile and see how that goes. add things very slowly, when they look like they are doing well add some hermits. i would wait a bit on adding shrimp and fish.

are snails good for a tank, or just for looks :question:

snails are good they help clean the glass, sandbeds and rocks depending on what type you add.

fish are for looks.

btw if you don't have a copy i recommend you grab the "Conscientious Marine Aquarist " it's a great book that you should probably have for reference.
