How to shrink Picture size to fit 200kb limit?

I finally have some shots of my fish/corals/clams/tanks but I can't post them because their too big (over 200kb limit).

Is there an easy fix so I can shrink the files & post the pics?

Thanks,

Anthony

Hey Ant,

Send one to me........ I can try to resize it for you.

How big do you want it?

Cheers,

Vic,

I resized them in Hotmail. They're now posted in the new SeaHorse_Fanatic photo gallery. Could you or somebody else please post them on my new thread in the Pics forum? Under "Clams & Corals & Fish Oh my!!!"

I'll try to learn how to do this myself ASAP.

how did you resize them in hotmail...I have Photoshop CS if anyone knows how to do it with that.

Thanks

Quinster,

I sent them to myself as Attachment - images. Then I checked off the ones I want and edited the images (ie. cropping) before sending off the email. After I downloaded the attachments, I then went back to CanReef's photo gallery & started the process outlined by the mod. I just clicked on the img file & posted that file. It resized down from 800+kb per pic. I'm not sure how big each file is now but it's below the 200kb limit.

Took a while but I was up working at 3:00am anyways

In PSCS, use Save for Web on the File menu. It will tell you the export file size of the image based on the quality/compression settings you choose. Generally JPEG is the best format for photographs. You can also set the image dimensions in the Save for Web dialog, or use Image Size on the Image menu before you save.

You can also resize in paint.

Unfortunately I don't think you can set the quality of the JPEG you export, and it seems to default to zero. And God forbid anyone should post a bitmap.

Open it with paint, resize it to a moderate size and then save at as a JPEG. Thats what i do.
