Clowns doing their thing!

Well they are at it again. This is a pic of my clowns laying/fertilizing their eggs tonight. This was about 1/2 way through the process and of course as you can see in the picture they are laying them on the coral body instead of the lovely clean piece of acrylic I put in there for them last week. Last time they laid their eggs on the tank wall which is where I put the acrylic.

Are you ready for them?
Did you get your cultures going already?
It sure would be great to successfully raise some clowns...

I have 10 bottles of phyto going and a few bottle of rotifers. I did not have enough phyto plankton to feed the rotifers for the past few days so I have been substituting v8 juice. There was a huge decline in the rotifer numbers because of it. I can still spot a few swimming around her and there so I think I can rejuvinate them.

Otherwise i'm ready!

Hope everything goes well for you then.
Keep us updated!!

Don't know if you can get it but I use a Cryo-preserved phytoplankton product called Tahitian Blend (bought from OA) for my rotifer cultures. Many fellow local reefers are also using the same, with similar success. Then you can save the live phyto for feeding larvae (I'm assuming).

Try slanting the peice of acrylic. SOmetimes works.

I'd try a piece of ceramic tile, the surface texture might be more their style. Or perhaps the inside edge of a clam shell ..

Are they true percs or ocelaris?

Canadian Man 01-18-2005 04:01 PM

Ocelaris.

I have a tile in for the pink skunks but I did not have the know how to cut a piece of tile for the ocelaris. I know have a tile cutter so I will get a tile in there next go around.
