Can clams transmit fish disease?

I just put a clam in a few days ago and now my copperband stopped eating this morning and now he has labored breathing. No other signs of infection. I did add a yellow tang about six weeks ago so not sure if he has given something. Need to still check for ammonia, but my tank is 5 years old so doubt it.

Anything wet (coral, inverts, etc) can transmit certain diseases.

signs of ammonia

a five year old tank should have zero ammonia and zero nitrite. The biologicals convert it to nitrate. your nitrate may be high but should not stress the fish unless super high. A water change may be needed.
