ReefCrest AquaWELD?!

Cool looking product J&L! Will be grabbing some of this next time I drop by

Reef Crest Aqua WELD is a unique thermoplastic polymer made up of small plastic beads which melt at around 60 degrees Celsius.

By heating these beads in hot water the aquarist can easily melt the pellets to form a transparent flexible material. Once melted the opaque white pellets fuse together, become transparent and soften. You can then fuse rockscapes, frags, and virtually anything else you want together for a lasting and very strong bond.
Features:

Re-usable as many times as required
Great for aquascaping and frag work
100% non-toxic
Very strong once hard
Easy to mold by hand - no sticky residue
Cures in minutes underwater
Safe for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums.

Its a great idea, but two things:

Dont get the white. It is blarringly noticable and stays neon uber white for ages.

Attach the stuff to the frag outside of the tank, and put it in. I found it annoying to try to secure it underwater. Its not as "sticky" as you think it's going to be, so a lot of my attempts were very loose fitting.

All in all its a great new product for sure.

It's awesome for building rock structures but I don't like it as much for frags. You have to work fast and if it cools off it doesn't stick very well.

Haven't picked any up yet, but have a couple ideas for toning down the white. Either by kneading in some charcoal powder or extra coralline algae? There may be a reef safe dye out there...
And if using it to secure a frag to your rockwork, maybe the "sammich" technique (dab of crazy glue, ball of aquaweld, dab of crazy glue?) just be quick about it and should set up quick and conform quite nicely. As far as building rockscape it looks like it does a solid job of that. Looking forward to trying it out, and may be useful for other stuff around the house too

I wonder if you could mix in a piece of a Form card and mix to the colour you desire?

Little purple or brown or black maybe?

To get rid of the white I just stuck some rubble on the outside and had as much epoxy facing inwards as possible. It dries rock hard so I'm sure it'll get covered eventually just like the rocks anyhow.

Those crads are a neat idea to have in the wallet. Just pop by your local coffee shop and ask for hot water and make stuff on the go. The cell phone holder video is cool
Theres a brand called InstaMorph that sells pigment beads. Not sue if they're reef safe though, the MSDS isn't very informative

Honestly this reef chrest stuff is like stupid you burn yourself from the hot water then you put in the tank and you have about 5 sec to do whatever you want to do.
Its probally the worst aquarium product of 2017

Oh dear.....guess you didnt read those directions eh? I think common sense in regards to the water temp might help a bit. Lol. I used a fork to grab the hot plastic out of the hot water...I didnt stick my fingers into recently heated water...
