Lf: Berghia Nudi or other aiptasia-eating creatures

Hi all,

My live rock in my 20 and 30gal storage tanks is infested with aiptasia. I know a few ways to rid the system of those pests, and one is the berghia nudibranch. That being said, I may also be in the market for a peppermint shrimp.

Unless anyone else has any suggestions about ways of getting rid of the aiptasia? I'm sure this topic has been thrown around in the reef keeping hobby so often we're all sick of hearing about it. So, any ideas? Chemical means?

If not, please let me know if you have either a berghia nudi or a peppermint shrimp for sale. Thanks!

Peps are only ok at eating aptasia.....

filefish

I had a pretty good infestation a while back - a bristletail filefish from the LFS did some great work... about 2 weeks, and it was completely cleared out. Of course, I sold him to another reefer and as far as I know, he completely ignored his aptasia... so it can be hit and miss I guess. That's my experience :-)

I used a syringe and a cup of hot water..killed them all.

Ive had really good luck with pep. Golds has sold me the only ones I find that will hunt out and eat aiptasia. Ive purchased a few from there now with great results.
I also use a syringe filled with lemon juice or boiling water and inject it into them as well to help control them when I first set up my newer tank.

I used to use kalk paste, but it's kind of a chore, plus you can only kill the ones you can get to.

So I decided to try one of those tasseled filefish, well he had to go cuz he started decimating some zoas.

I've been in the hobby for many years and never tried peppermints as reviews were always hit or miss. But I decided to give them a try and grabbed a couple for my 65 gallon. I no longer have aiptasia. If I end up with some in my next display tank my first choice would be to add some peppermints!

Well worth the cheap investment!
