Building tank - 2 questions
I bought a tank recently off another member, never seen fish and was custom made. The ad for the tank said 1/2 glass, however it's 3/8.
60 gallon. 36x24x16 tall. 1. Does it need to be braced? 2. Does it need spacers in the joints? (If so how thick) Neither of which it came with Thanks in advance! |

Just the guy I was hoping to hear from thank you Denny :)
Without spacers how do you know if "proper spacing" is there. (Or what is proper spacing). If using bar clamps I don't wanna squish all of the silicone out of the joint....Or I could use use Duct Tape but I have a feeling thats not something Concept would do  |
Tape is fine it'd not a large tank and it's not holding water so clamps probably are overkill:)
A 1/16+ spacing is fine , main thing is glass doesn't touch glass very important ok , measure your panels and you'll be able to figure out the spacing allowed when it was cut :) For home made spacer cut a small 1x8" x 1x8" piece of vinyl hosing or similar make sure it's flat is all:) one on top one on bottom :) |
:pop2: Don't mind me... I'm just here to listen to Denny reveal all the trade secrets!

Not duct tape preferably construction grade masking tape or any similar tape will do , duct tape leaves a horrible track mark and need methal hydrate to get it off lot of work:)

Haha I don't mind if I was in a jam I'd hope an aquarium guy would step up and help me :) karma :)
