Canister filter uses??

I seem to have a few canister filters lying around. Is there anything usefull that can be made from these(an older round fluval and a couple newer styles). Was thinking kalk mixer or some kind of top-off??
I hate to see things go un-used,so lets do some brain storming

I consider my canister filter (round eheim 2215) a major part of my filtration system. I have a mixture of sand and ceramic cylinders as my bottom layer, followed by a large area of ceramic cylinders, then coarse gravel topped off by a mass of plastic netting. I can see the pods crawling all through the sand and cylinders when I look at the side of the unit and find numerous stars and worms every time I clean the filter. I wouldn't go without one. Quiet, efficient, mechanical filter that has become quite a bio filter as well.

Canister filters do serve a purpose, but I'm going sump on my new set-up and since I have 4 or 5 canisters and I could use a kalk mixer,I figured I might as well see if I can use what I have.

I made a calcium reactor out of an old Eheim canister filter I had sitting around.

Now I just need money for the CO2 equipment so I can use it.

If I had 'em, I'd use them to run carbon, or Rowaphos .. stuff like that.

Im going sumpless on my tank right now, so Im using mine for feeding my CC skimmer, calcium reactor, and have some carbon in the canister.

I used an old fluval for a C02 reactor... Works great!
Easy access to add media, self enclosed pump, easy to move around...
highly recommended!

You really need to post some pics of that in the DIY forum!!
