Measuring parameters photospectrophotometrically

Hi guys,

I'm wondering if anyone has measured nitrates, phosphates, calcium and magnesium with a spectrophotometer?

I hate using the test kits, and part of my grad research involves me using a spec daily, but I can't seem to find any protocols for these measurements.

Anyone done this and have a method?

Hi,

I use a Lamotte Smart 2 Spectrometer to measure Iodine, Bromine, Nitrate, Phosphate, Nitrite and Ammonia.

I used to measure alkalinity with it as well until I spoke with Lamotte's tech support and they advised that for Alkalinity the titration method is more accurate. I now use the Lamotte Alkalinity kit instead of my meter.

Cheers,
Tim
