This guy was living in my sump... just kidding. No matter how many times I see these things, I'm still blown away. But you've got to wonder, what do they taste like. It's an isopod summer at Red Lobster.

Nice  My kids are always trying to talk me into getting one. Where did you come across this one ?

Just some site full of weird animal photos. Can you imagine having one of these in a tank? You'd have to go to T&T and buy them carp to eat or something.

I don't know, but I realized today that Gollum looks a lot like a sphinx cat.

what is it? I know its an isopod but what is an isopod?

Quinn 08-05-2004 03:38 PM

They're a crustacean, like an amphipod or copepod. They are sometimes found in marine aquaria as hitchhikers but are of course much smaller, perhaps topping out at half an inch. They can be parasitic and wreak havoc in a tank.
