Hi Ray,

So I'm struggling big time to choose between 3x Radion G3's or 3x Hydra 52's for my new 220g setup.

I've scoured google, youtube, and all the forums to read opinions and reviews, but they vary so much. I know they are both great lights, but given the cost and relative importance of lighting, this decision is critical to me.

Being someone familiar with both products, do you have any suggestions?

For my setup, which would involve 3 lights, the director / reeflink, and potential hanging kit hardware, the price between either setup is pretty comparable (with the Ecotech costing a few hundred more total).

Im using three G2 on a 86 gallon tank. I still dont have full spread over the entire tank. Im using the short rail kit but even the long rail kit is only 3 inchs longer. Im my opinion the 52 buy AI was an attempted by them to say hey look are lights have a lot of par because the vagas dident. You dont really need all that par. I would save up and get Ray to order you an ATI hybred you will be much further in the tech game that way. The radions and ai lights are both nice but they look like a toy compared to a t5 setup unless you build them into a canopy.

Thats a pretty narrow tank, turn your lights the other way and you would probably get way better coverage. There is a lot of different ways to hang your lights to, so the rail might not be your best bet if you don't have the coverage you are looking for. You could also try raising them up a bit higher.

There already nine inchs above the tank. There's already so many holes in the ceiling from mounting them different ways I don't want to **** my parents off anymore. I get full covarage front to back and I only have to run them a 75% Im thinking of getting a par meter and some kessils to fill in the gaps and just keeping LPS on the sides

Thats an idea as well. But when I had my razor i ran it 15" above the water to get the max coverage. Most people don't run there leds at full power anyway, so if you raised them you could just turn up the juice a little bit. Just an option Either way nice setup
