had one for a few years, didn't seem to touch the hair algae but went through the coralline. Liked enough will be getting another.

I like mine, very cool. I'm not sure if it even eats the hair algea. It does eat the coraline but not enough to matter. It will pick up frags that aren't glued down and has fragged my xenia, almost wiped it out once. I suspect it has a fairly high bioload as well. But it is a very cool animal to keep.

I hear they like to pick up frags or make frags hahaha. I had a long spine for a few years but the sucker outgrew my tank lol.
I think I may source out a tuxedo!

urchin

they are collectors.the one in my frag tank has a feather duster on it

The one I had didn't touch any type of algae except for coralline. My rocks were always white except for in the areas the urchin couldn't reach. I wouldn't get another myself just because I prefer the look of pinks and purples on the rock instead. Interesting creatures though.

I have a tuxedo urchin and love it however be prepared to do regular rescues of your CUC and any unsecured corals will not bother your fish and may move some rocks around other than that relatively harmless

Had one along with a pincushion in my last tank, now just have a pincushion in mu current tank. I love urchins, but they are a PITA because if it's not bolted down the urchins will take it with them! Snails, frags in a rack, small pieces of rock etc. etc. it will relocate it for you.

Absolutely loved my tuxedo urchin! he only eats coraline algae... never made frags and never touched frags... ate some of my macro algae thou...
