Refugium light

was thinking of getting a 23 watt phillips daylight cfl spiral bulb from home depot, is this 6500K?

anyone using it with success?

if not, can someone give me some option's please. like specific bulb brand name, description on box. where? hopefully from home depot, zellers canadian tire, etc or somewhere else in windsor.

that is exactly what i am using over my fuge and it is working just fine. i am planning on eventually switching it for a LED but the cfl has done its job well for the past year or 2 anyway

Yup, been using that for years. Works awesome. 6500k and lots of plant growing power.

I haven't checked the actual bulb at the store but only the outside box, do you know if it does say 6500K on the bulb if I were to open it in the store?

because it only says daylight on the box.

sorry for the extra question I just want to make sure it is the same exact bulb because we are in different provinces.

Mines a 35W CFL, say's "daylight" on it, internet said it was 6500K. pretty sure it's a Phillips.

Thanks guys, I''ve decided to buy the 23 watt phillips daylight, from home depot, that says 6500k on the bulb.

Do you think placing the light 6"-8" from the water level with the ball of algae being a few inch's under water be a good place to mount it?

Do you think this is enough light in my refuge for a 29G display and 10G sump/refuge?

If I were to add another 23 watt light would this help even more? the refuge area is 6" deep after the 4" of sand 12" x 12" or would heating probably become an issue? only other light is my dispaly which is a 6 bulb ati fixture with 3 fans. plus I'll be using a mag 3 return pump, 2 x mp10 vortech pumps.

Great fuge light but one is more than enough. I used one over a 75g sump. Grew chaeto well.
