Acan colony on live rock

Hi everyone

I have an acan colony I am guessing 20-25 heads that is growing directly on live rock. I have never fragged acans but in watching videos people generally cut the colony between the heads while holding the colony etc. Have any of you ever removed a colony from LR or fragged it while on the rock somehow?

Cheers

Believe it or not, I had an acan that grew across 2 rocks. I had to move one, so I just tore the rocks apart. The split colonies have thrived. But yes, you can just cut in between them and you're good to go.

Mines about the size of a fist and just bulges out slightly on part of the rock. I am taking down the tank and not using the rock in the next tank but want to frag the acan off. So I would need to break the rock itself or cut into the colony vertically from above? Thanks

you could also take a chizzle and hammer , chip the rock around the acans rock breaks pretty easy that way

I like skimmer juices idea , acans have skeletons so you can't just cut through the flesh. They are pretty hardy and frag well but you should still be as gentle as possible.

Acan? I cut them through the mouth, side, top, bottom.. And they live. Providing the fact they are healthy at first place.. Ask wheelman.. He had a lot of one head, Half head frag.. And they all live.

I have cut some in half and both survived. Like Wheelman said they are pretty hardy.
