New nano

12 gallon Eclipse with a retrofitted 1 x96 watt coralife pc.

SEIO 620 for additional water movement and the only other mod I have made is removal of the biowheel and installed a 90 degree elbow for the water return. I also adde a partial glass top to help with the salt creep as the bulb is uncovered and as additional protection I put zinc cream around the light housing so no water will get in there. Still settling bu I think it will look good.

Only question is which mantis I put in there?

Looks great.

How did you make a 96w pc fit? Aren't all 96w PC's 36" long?

rudy 07-03-2006 04:21 PM

The 96 watt is 17 inches long. It is is 4 tubes. You can kind of see it in the last pic. The reflector you have to cut a bit but all and all it fits like a glove.

Yes, I got the same light as a retrofit kit to go over my 10g nano.
How high are you going to put your light?

I actually screwed the light right into the Eclipse 12 canopy. I just took out the regular light and replaced with that.

Ok, about how high above water level would that be?
Just want to make sure I don't cook everybody changing from the 13w to the 96 w

Probably 3 inches. I have not noticed heat issues, however I have not had it up and running long enough to know I guess. I will let you know how it goes. My house is air conditioned so I am not going to bother with a chiller.

Haha Zinc is a bad idea. I just lifted the canopy and it was dripping everywhere. Any other ideas to water proof the fixture?

Silicone should work I would think.
