AEFW in recent acro purchase

Purchased a Ice Fire Echinata on Sunday, brought it home dipped it in Coral RX and low and behold a tiny AEFW came off the coral. Good thing I have a good dissecting microscope to see. I had separated the coral from the base before dipping.

Seller of the coral had no idea that the coral had AEFW and had dipped it before selling it. Was good and gave me my money back no problems.

This is the second time in my recent purchases of Acros that an AEFW came off the coral from reputable sellers.

Moral of the story buyer beware and always dip no matter who you buy the coral from. I even dip between my own tanks

A couple of things I have noted:
Both times I found these little monsters the dip (coral rx) does not kill them only stuns them so they may let go from the coral.
They are very good swimmers once being stunned wears off.

Not sure about using Bayer, as it turns the water milky and I have not seen any bodies when I have dipped corals in it. I like to use it second after the Coral RX

Glen, I'd be interested in hearing who it was in PM or text. Sorry to hear.

Damn.

That sucks.

I'm about to get back into the sps game after a decade hiatus.

We never dealt with these pests in the past, or at least we weren't aware of them.

Does not sound fun.

Thanks for the post Glen.

Dip everything you get or you got no one to blame but yourself.

Quarantine is the best practice but even then, it's no guarantees.

These guys have been around as long as we have been keeping acros, we only started to be aware of them in the early 2000's. I am sure there are lots of other pests and problems we have in our tanks but do not that they are bad. We can never stop learning.
