Frag issues

Has anyone who went to the Lethbridge Frag swap in Nov experienced any STN? 80 % of what i purchased at the swap has developed some STN of some kind. IT all seams to be slow moving but is there none the less. My brother inlaw also had this problem with some frags he purchased. Just wondering if this is something that more than just the two of us are dealing with or if anyone else has had these issues???

On a side note, anyone have any suggestions as to what i can do to save some of my corals? I was told to frag what i can while i can before they die??? but do i then remove the rest of the coral??

Also want to add that this is just a question and in no way to be interpreted as an attack towards anyone from the swap as i believe we got amazing corals and great deals. I would go again in a heart beat.

Thanks
Steve

Frag what you can and soak the rest in Coral Revive? May help, can't hurt.
Sorry to hear that.

All of our frags from the swap are doing really well, with the exeption of one small frag that didn't make it. Did all of your pieces go downhill at once or over time? Do you use tap water or R/O?

Unfortunetley im using tap water :( I always leave it out in a 5 Gallon pail for at least 2 days before i use it though. i have just noticed in the last couple weeks that its been happening..started with 2 birdsnests and now my devils hand looks like its dieing. My naso tang died about a month ago and 3 days ago one of my chromis died that i have had for like a year. no signs of issues..i dont know what the heck is going on. all parameters seems to be fine.

do you test your tap water?
with all the warm weather and snow melting I'd suspect your town water has upped its chemicals to deal with the run off.

well...search no further. Why not an RO/DI unit? it's not that expensive and at the end you will lose more money in frag and RTN.

If you have chloramine in your tap then 2 days is not going to remove all. You can't trust the water company as they sometime put desinfectant etc. in the water that is safe for humans but not for fish or corals.

I would never trust tap water without treating it with Prime at the very least. Even then, you should test for copper as well.
