Riceboy's 2012 nano contest entry

Well I guess I should create one of these.
Trying to keep the KISS principal on this one since it will be in my office at work. So the less gadgets te better.

Here's the tank specs:

12"x12"x12" tank

Rena xpl canister filter

ikea office lamp

Par 38 led bulb

Hydor inline heater.

I wish it's oct.15 so I can set up my damn tank lol

Awwww . . . once again the cutie is in the background, and I lose all focus on the tank. Tank? What tank? Look at those cheeks!

lol na i'm just preping the tank and doing a leak test to check for leaks lol at the bulkheads lol.

I'm going to make this a zoa dominant tank and try some sps corals and some lps. This tank is actually inspired by a tank I have seen long ago which was also an office tank. See link

http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/sh...hreadid=553708

The vision:

-have a low maintenance
-less gadgets inside the tank
-viewable on 5 sides
-simple and elegant look

In order for me to achieve this I had a tank custom built at golds so 12X12X12 with 2 X 1/2" bulk heads drilled in the center of the tank. I will limit the amount of equipment in the tank by installing everything outside of the tank and under my desk. The rena xpL should provide enought flow and filtration for such a small tank (rated for 175 gallon tank ), and the heater is connected inline with the tubing. So all you'll see is the inlet and outlet in the tank, which I will be hiding in the rocks lol. Lighting will be on a timer so no maintenance there, and ato will be me or my co worker (when im on vacation lol) topping of daily to parked point. To replenish the ca, kh, mag, and trace element I will be doing a 1 gallon water change bi-weekly.
