Possible leak on silicon of Tank.

Hello

Looking for advice on how to figure out if bottom silicone seal is starting to leak. I have noticed some salt creep on the outside of my tank at the plastic trim. I was thinking of pushing sand back so I can see if silicone is pulling off the glass.

Next would be do I set up a temp or loaner tank if I can find one and strip all silicone off and re-seal the existing tank. The other option would be to find or have a new tank built. Maybe a rimless same sort of dimensions as my current tank as I do not want to rebuild stand right now.

Please weigh in and give me your thoughts and experiences with similar situations.

How old is your tank? What size is it? Can you put up a picture of the supposed leak? Have you recently moved the tank?

If I slop water over the edge and it rolls down the front front glass and settles on/behind the trim before I can catch it I will have salt creep after the water evaporates. Pull back the trim back as best you can in the effected area, dry between the glass and trim . Watch it for the next day or two. If it reappears after you may have a leak, if not I wouldn't worry about it.

The tank is 4-5 years old and onlyhad water in it the last two. It is 36" L x 24" H x18" D. I check all the silicone prior to setting up to make sure seal was still good at the time it seemed to be stuck to glass good. I have not moved the tank since i set it up. I did spill some water last weekend but on theopisite end. Maybe that is the source? I will post a picture of the trim i am talking about after this post forgot to up load it to PB first.

I did try what youmentioned about pulling the trim back but can not move it enough to clean or see in between.

Will monitor for now and try to clean between the trim and glass.

Wipe it off real good and see if it comes back. Like jorjef said, maybe you just slopped a bit. I don't see any real trickle in the pic.
