Updated Board Policies
 

After recent discussions and review of some complaints we've received, we're going to have to enforce additional policies.

As we want to keep Canreef about reefs, and related things, where we're all here for a common purpose, we'd like to ask that you leave your professional lives offline.
This is what we're asking;
Please do not include references or URLs to your businesses in your signature block. Canreef is here for you to enjoy reefing, not to assist in soliciting business for your aquaria or non aquaria related personal business.

We also ask that if you have a username that implies you are a business (ie, buymyfrags.com), please think of a new name and contact one of the staff to have it changed.

These are voluntary steps for the next week, after which we will be editing the info.

Thirdly, we've seen some abuse (real or perceived) in the buy/sell forums, where business owners that are not sponsors are here selling off either new or used equipment that did not come from their personal setup. What we want to avoid is members that are "brokering" used items in order to make a profit. Since this is a very gray area, we will consider this condition on a "per incident" basis, making a decision on whether that line has been crossed. We also like to ensure our members have access to decent used equipment, so we will try to balance this so that it is fair to all, sellers, buyers and sponsors of the site.

The above requirements are not applicable to sponsors of the site.
