Coral Quarantine- what am I doing wrong

This is my second batch of corals and we have a dedicated coral tank. 30 gallons, HOB filter, led light, heater and egg crate. We also have a rock from our display.

When I get corals, I do a double dip. First revive for five minutes, then second coral rx, then rinse in a third bowl of salt water and add to quarantine tank. The Corals look angry and dead, even the next day. BRS has been my guide and I feel like the only thing I do different is I don’t have seperate heated tanks for the dip I use a gallon mixing bowl and put 4 corals in at a time, making sure they don’t touch. So free five minutes they get colder, but I mix the second dip right before they’re ready so that’s warm water too. They’re floated in the tank to acclimate temperature wise until I’m ready to dip (usually 15-69 minutes), and all obtained locally so 15-30 minute drive.

Is it normal for them to be angry? They look bleached. I didn’t go over five minutes each but they all have stringy webbing and slime, and after putting them in my tank (at least 7 inches between them), my candy cane coral also started webbing and sliming and it’s been fine for two weeks. Only other coral in there. I have a carbon bag in the filter. Today the webbing is gone but they’re white with dots and I’m worried they may not make it. How long before polyps extend?

We have lots more corals to buy so I want to get the process down and make sure we don’t kill everything

Stringy web and slime is normal for an upset coral. I've never dipped for that long. I just put them in for a minute or two then baste the crap out of them with a pipette. Maximum 3 or 4 minutes total, and one at a time. Perhaps your bath has too much dip? I usually do 2 rinse baths also, basting there too. Perhaps the double dip is too much? I usually do one dip in a peroxide mix, rinse, Revive dip, rinse, rinse. I've maybe lost 5% of new frags with this method. Also always inspect the used dip solutions with a flashlight for nasties.

Send me some pictures of your QT set up on instagram @canadianreefmaster
and the lighting, and filter. And maybe the water parameters.
Maybe I can give you some pointers.
